New Process<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In accordance with the Government \u201cRight to Rent\u201d rules, we require you to share your documents with us digitally. These checks can be carried out over video calls and tenants\/ applicants can supply scanned copies or photos of documents via email. \u00a0This is in order to prove your nationality, and that you have the right to rent a property in the UK.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Digital Checks Required<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

As well as confirming your nationality, we need to check that you have the right to stay in the UK, via a settlement status. Prospective tenants needing to prove their settlement status must first view their own Right to Rent record using the \u2018Prove your Right to Rent to a landlord\/ agent\u2019 service, in which you will then receive a code.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If your permission has a time limit, we will need to check it again in future once that time limit has ended or after 12 months of tenancy term start date, whichever occurs later.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

You will not have a further check if you stay in the same property and either:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    \r\n
  1. You\u2019re a British or Irish citizen<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  2. You have no time limit on your right to stay in the UK<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    How do I provide my settlement status?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    This information can then be easily shared with Complete, by providing us with a \u2018share code\u2019 digitally which you will receive once you\u2019ve registered your Right to Rent record. We will then verify this on our end on the government website.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Groups that must present us with a share code for a digital check are:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      \r\n
    1. Non-UK nationals with a current biometric resident permit or card,<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    2. All EU, EEA, or Swiss nationals and their family members<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    3. Those with status under the points-based immigration system.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      No, in accordance with government guidelines we\u2019re now able to conduct digital checks on all tenants by doing the following:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      1. Checks can currently be carried out over video calls.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
      2. Tenants can send scanned documents or a photo of documents for checks, including their \u2018share code\u2019 via email rather than sending originals.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
